On June 30, 2017, the City of Prescott and Yavapai County will commemorate the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who lost their lives in the Yarnell Hill Fire on June 30, 2013.
At exactly 4:42 p.m., the Courthouse bells will ring 19 times in their honor, followed by a moment of silence.
While no formal ceremony is scheduled, community members are invited to gather on the south side of the Courthouse Plaza to listen to the bell tribute.
In addition, the City will install a commemorative sign marking the future site of a permanent memorial, located on the southeast corner of the Courthouse Plaza.
“We can never fully express our gratitude for their ultimate sacrifice,” said Prescott Fire Chief Dennis Light. “This simple but meaningful tribute reflects our deep respect and remembrance.”
